As an Associate Solicitor within our Private Client team, you will take on a pivotal role in shaping both client outcomes and the future of the department. You will manage a diverse and often complex caseload, act as a trusted adviser to a broad client base and contribute meaningfully to the strategic growth and continued success of the team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious legal professional to step into a role that offers autonomy and influence.


What you'll be responsible for:

  • Take ownership of a broad and varied caseload of private client matters, including: wills, estate planning, and wealth preservation strategies; probate and estate administration; trust creation, structuring, and ongoing management; lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection matters.
  • Deliver clear, pragmatic, and commercially astute legal advice tailored to each client’s circumstances.
  • Confidently handle complex, high-value, and sensitive matters with minimal supervision.
  • Build and nurture long-term client relationships, consistently delivering an exceptional standard of client care.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support the development of junior solicitors, trainees, and support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Play an active role in business development, including networking, building professional connections, and contributing to marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory, legal, and professional standards at all times.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction and growth of the Private Client Department, bringing ideas and insight to drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain meticulous file management, time recording, and billing in line with firm policies and procedures.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required by your Line Manager or Director.


What we're looking for:

  • Qualification as a Solicitor in England & Wales, with significant post-qualification experience (typically 5-8 years PQE) in wills, probate and trusts.
  • STEP qualification (or working towards) is highly desirable.
  • A proven track record of independently managing a complex and varied caseload.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine commitment to delivering client-focused solutions.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or developing junior team members.
  • Demonstrable involvement in business development and networking activities.
  • A high degree of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
  • The ability to perform effectively under pressure, managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • A collaborative mindset, with a strong team-oriented approach.
